Getting Started

What is ReplayTrader?
ReplayTrader is a browser-based market replay simulator that lets you practice trading with historical data. Pick any instrument, any date, press play, and trade as if you were there live. Every trade is tracked, journaled, and feeds into a comprehensive analytics dashboard.
How do I start my first replay session?
Sign up for free, go to the Replay page, pick an instrument from the left panel, choose your timeframe and date range, and click Start Replay. The chart will load historical candles and you can begin trading immediately. Use Space to play/pause and arrow keys to step through candles.
Is this free to use?
Yes! The free tier gives you 3 replay sessions per month with daily timeframes and 5 instruments (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, US 500, Gold, BTC/USD). Upgrade to Pro ($19/month) for unlimited sessions, all timeframes, all instruments, and full analytics.
Do I need to download anything?
No. ReplayTrader runs entirely in your browser. Works on Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari. No plugins, no desktop app, no installation. Just sign up and start trading.

Data & Instruments

Where does the market data come from?
We use Dukascopy Bank SA's publicly available historical data feed. It includes minute-level precision for forex, indices, commodities, and crypto going back over 20 years. The data is free — no API keys or data subscriptions required.
What instruments are available?
20+ instruments across 4 asset classes: 10 forex pairs (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, AUD/USD, USD/CAD, GBP/JPY, EUR/JPY, EUR/GBP, NZD/USD, USD/CHF), 5 indices (S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, FTSE 100, DAX 40, Nikkei 225), 2 commodities (Gold, Silver), and 2 crypto (BTC, ETH).
How far back does the historical data go?
Most forex pairs have data going back to 2003. Indices and commodities typically go back 10-15 years. Crypto data starts from 2017. The exact availability depends on when Dukascopy began recording each instrument.
What timeframes are available?
Free plan: daily only. Pro and Elite: 1-minute, 5-minute, 15-minute, 30-minute, and 1-hour candles. You can switch timeframes during a session without losing your position in time.
Are the prices the same as live trading?
The prices come from Dukascopy's CFD feed, which closely mirrors live market prices but may differ slightly from actual exchange-traded futures or spot forex. This is standard for all replay platforms. The data is accurate enough for strategy validation and practice.

Trading & Execution

How realistic is the trading simulation?
Very realistic. We simulate real spreads and commissions (configurable per instrument), support market, limit, and stop orders, track MFE/MAE for every trade, and include trailing stops. The only thing not simulated is variable slippage — fills happen at exact prices.
Can I set stop loss and take profit?
Yes. You can set SL/TP in three ways: pips, exact price, or dollar amount. There are preset buttons for common distances. You can also drag SL/TP lines directly on the chart, or use Shift+click to set SL and Ctrl+click for TP at any price level.
What keyboard shortcuts are available?
Space (play/pause), arrow keys (step candles), Shift+arrows (step 10), 1-6 (speed), B (buy), S (sell), X (close trade), Escape (cancel order), ? (shortcut help). Drawing tools have their own shortcuts: V (cursor), H (h-line), T (trendline), R (ray), G (rectangle), F (fibonacci), M (measure).
Can I trade multiple instruments at once?
With the Elite plan, you can open a multi-chart layout (up to 2x2) where each pane shows a different instrument or timeframe. However, trades are currently placed on the primary chart only.

Analytics & Journal

What analytics are available?
The dashboard includes: equity curve, drawdown chart, trade distribution histogram, P&L by hour and day of week, performance calendar heatmap, strategy breakdown table, MFE/MAE scatter plot, R:R distribution, and Monte Carlo simulation (100-500 trade projections). Filter by direction or strategy tag.
How does the trade journal work?
Every trade is logged automatically with full details: entry/exit prices, P&L in pips and dollars, MFE/MAE, R:R ratio, duration, and exit reason. You can add strategy tags (ORB, ICT, FVG, SMC, etc.), star ratings (1-5), and free-text notes. The journal is searchable, filterable, and sortable.
What is Monte Carlo simulation?
Monte Carlo takes your actual trade results and projects what might happen over 100-500 future trades by randomly sampling from your results. It shows the 5th, 25th, 50th, 75th, and 95th percentile outcomes — helping you understand the range of possible results for your strategy.
Can I export my data?
CSV export is available on the Elite plan. All plans include full on-platform analytics.

Pricing & Plans

What's the difference between plans?
Free: 3 sessions/month, daily timeframe, 5 instruments. Pro ($19/month): unlimited sessions, all timeframes, all instruments, full analytics, trade journal. Elite ($39/month): everything in Pro plus multi-chart, Monte Carlo, CSV export, and prop firm simulator.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. All paid plans are monthly with no contracts. Cancel anytime from your Settings page and you'll keep access until the end of your billing period.
Is there a free trial?
The free plan is available forever with limited features. Pro and Elite plans include a 7-day free trial so you can test all features before committing.
Can I practice for prop firm challenges?
The prop firm simulator (coming soon, Elite plan) will let you practice FTMO, MyForexFunds, and other challenges with real rules — max drawdown, daily loss limits, and profit targets.

Technical

Does this work on mobile?
ReplayTrader is optimized for desktop and tablet. We recommend a screen width of at least 1024px for the best experience. A mobile companion app is on our roadmap.
Is my data saved?
Session state is auto-saved to your browser every 5 seconds for crash recovery. When you end a session, it's saved to your account. Your trade history, analytics, and journal entries persist across sessions.
What browsers are supported?
Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari (latest versions). We recommend Chrome for the best performance. Internet Explorer is not supported.
